Mobilization and Member Care Manager

Location: U.S., preferably Southeast

Employment Status: Part Time (averaging 20 hours/week) to optional Full Time in 2023

Overview:

The Mobilization and Member Care Manager is part of the U.S.-based BlueSky Global (BSG) team, which serves as the organization's home office, providing both executive leadership and support services for the Kenya programs and operations. This role will serve across the ministry by leading efforts in the mobilization of new team members, as well as ensuring ongoing member care for BlueSky missionaries in Nairobi (currently five to 10 family units). This role will actively contribute to weekly BSG meetings, annual BSG strategic planning sessions, and an annual All Staff Retreat in Kenya.

Reports to: BlueSky Global Executive Director


Mobilization:

  • Collaborate with Human Resources to manage the applicant pipeline for missionary staff, from receipt of interest form through interviews and assessment phases

  • Contribute to research, selection, and implementation of an applicant tracking system

  • Encourage and oversee staff throughout onboarding and support raising process, including contact with support coach, direction regarding pre-field training, and assistance with visas and logistics

  • Coordinate onboard plan with Kenya Country Director for new staff upon arrival to Kenya

  • Collaborate with Human Resources and Country Director to craft staff support budgets

  • As capacity allows, provide onboarding support for seasonal camp volunteers, including support coaching and pre-field training alongside the Camp Staff Manager

  • As capacity allows, provide administrative or strategic support in recruiting efforts for Director of Engagement


Member Care:

  • Research and build out member care strategy and growth goals according to best practices, participating in member care coaching process during first year

  • Build and maintain relationships with missionary staff in order to provide ongoing care and follow-up: regular email, video/phone calls at bi-monthly intervals, and increased care as needed during significant events, crisis situations, etc. 

  • Serve as liaison for member care needs which require additional resources, such as counseling, medical needs, spiritual direction, etc. 

  • Guide the Home Assignment (HA) planning process and provide primary oversight and support for staff while on HA

  • Inform Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) related to staff well-being and safety

  • Guide the discernment process for term recommitments 

  • Coordinate offboarding logistics, including overall transition planning, debrief program registration, and support account management

  • Occasional travel for local recruiting opportunities, quarterly (at minimum) in-person BSG team visits, and annual to bi-annual Kenya trip

Qualifications:

  • Committed to and models BlueSky’s Vision, Mission, and Core Values

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work-related experience

  • Minimum four years work experience in mission agencies or non-profits, time within human resources, training, or member care departments a plus

  • Heart for the nations with proven spiritual leadership experience

  • Experience serving on cross-cultural and diverse teams, with overseas missionary experience strongly preferred

  • Passion for member care, discipleship, and equipping of ministry workers 

  • Refined interpersonal skills: highly relational, capable of connecting with others quickly across ages and demographics, and able to work well individually and collaboratively

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills reflecting BlueSky’s commitment to relational professionalism

  • Excellent time management and organization skills, with the ability to manage multiple spheres of responsibility

  • Strong administrative skills, with understanding of systems and processes

  • Proficient in Google products, Zoom, and other web-based software and mobile apps
