BlueSky Global Donor Engagement Director

BlueSky Global Ministries’ vision is to see the multinational community of Nairobi, Kenya, spiritually transformed and equipped to influence the world for God’s glory. We pursue this by building relationships through adventure, using three core platforms: BlueSky Adventures, Camp BlueSky, and BlueSky Community. 

 

The BlueSky Global (BSG) Donor Engagement Manager role is critical to the overall support and success of the work in Kenya. Increased and long-term giving through strategic relationships with donors allows operations in the US and programs in Kenya to be sustainable, resulting in overall growth and increased ministry impact. The BSG Donor Engagement Manager will work closely with the Executive Director (ED) to broaden support for BlueSky’s mission. 


Success in this role is defined by cultivating relationships with existing and potential donors through effective communication, personal requests to give, and consistent follow-through, resulting in increased and sustained levels of giving.


Responsibilities:

  • Help create and execute the strategic funding plan for BlueSky Global, including strategies for identifying prospective donors, cultivating and converting new donors, providing effective donor stewardship, and increasing long-term donor retention

  • Manage a portfolio of donors while supporting the ED in efforts to increase major giving

  • Develop and implement efforts for involving a diversified constituent base (e.g. alumni, foundations, friends), focusing efforts on increasing monthly giving levels and recurring annual contributions

  • Provide assistance for internal and external communications, including developing print and digital marketing materials

  • Effectively utilize Bloomerang database system to update and maintain thorough development records at all times, enhancing current data stewardship and management

  • Ensure that BSG maintains high standards for donor engagement and development policies, procedures, and reporting metrics--performing its work with the highest level of ethics and integrity

  • Identify, recruit, and equip volunteers for development related projects and efforts

  • Provide crucial support and management to upcoming capital campaigns, while enhancing healthy annual giving and special projects

  • Prepare development reporting materials and metrics for BSG Board of Directors

  • Pursue continual professional development opportunities and mentoring, staying abreast of innovations and best practices in the field and sector

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3-5 year work experience in a development or relational sales role

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) required

  • Spiritually mature with a strong, personal relationship with Jesus Christ

  • Excellent interpersonal and relational skills

  • Strong and proven verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and plan, set priorities, and implement work in a disciplined manner, keeping multiple projects progressing simultaneously

  • Strong computer skills including social networking and web-based technologies; experience with database software is preferred
