Overview:

The Climb BlueSky Manager is a leadership role reporting to the BlueSky Kenya (BSK) Adventures Director, serving all functions within the Climbing program in Kenya. The Manager provides leadership and oversight to the Climb staff, develops a high-performance team culture, and drives the strategic growth of Climb programs, operations, and staff. The Manager will also serve on the BSK Leadership Team, collaborating effectively across departments for the purpose of the ministry.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, deliver, and evaluate Climb programs for BlueSky target audience, focusing on continuous improvements with a focus on developing year-round opportunities for clients.

  • Assess and refine Climb logistics, processes, and systems.

  • Create and manage annual budget to ensure year-after-year growth

  • Build partnerships with associations and vendors throughout Kenya, East Africa, and internationally

  • Provide operational and spiritual leadership for Climb staff and Climb apprentices.

  • Provide developmental opportunities (hard and soft skills) for the core team by investing

    in the growth of their character, competency, and chemistry.

  • Aid in staff recruitment and hiring of local multinational staff

  • Oversee the development and execution of route setting strategies that adhere to global standards

  • Ensure the maintenance of excellent records related to programming (guest numbers, post event debriefs, action plans, evaluations, etc.) for use with scorecards, future planning, and continuous improvement

  • Ensure Climb programs are carried out in a professional manner and according to global safety standards

  • Engage in ongoing personal and professional development; keep up-to-date on current research related to leadership, teaming, training, climbing, gym management

  • Work closely with other BlueSky ministry platforms in areas of overlap with ministry programming, including but not limited to, assisting with Expedition day trips.

Qualifications:

  • A self-professing Christ follower, actively involved in a Christian faith community and

    actively pursuing Christ on a consistent basis.

  • Commitment to the BlueSky Vision: Purpose, Mission, and Core Values.

  • Heart for the nations with proven spiritual leadership experience.

  • Minimum 2 years of climbing gym work related experience

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree

  • Experience serving on and leading cross-cultural and diverse teams preferred

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent time management and organization skills

  • Refined interpersonal skills; highly relational, capable of connecting with others quickly across ages and demographics, and able to work well individually and in a team environment

  • Ability to manage both small and large groups and provide leadership and direction to supporting personnel

  • Proficiency in Microsoft and Google programs and willing to learn web-based software, e-learning platforms, and mobile apps

  • Related certifications such as First Aid and Climbing Wall Manager or Instructor is preferred

Requirements:

  • Support Raising: All BlueSky ministry staff raise full financial support to serve. Support amount will be determined based on individual situations and current cost of living and doing ministry in Kenya.

  • Relocating to Nairobi, Kenya to serve for a minimum of 4 years.
