Jennifer
Operations Director
“I first visited Kenya in July of 2010. I quickly fell in love with the people and the land and began prayerfully considering a move to Nairobi. During that time period God made my next steps very clear, and I moved to Nairobi in July 2011 to teach at a local Christian international school. I became acquainted with BlueSky almost immediately, and during the next few years I learned more about their ministry. In 2014 I started volunteering with BlueSky by leading a covenant group for high-school girls, and in August 2015 I began to explore the idea of joining the team on a full-time basis. That idea grew and took shape and, well, after a lot of prayer for wisdom and direction, here I am! I moved around the U.S. every few years as I was growing up, but after graduating from college in 2001, I settled in central Kentucky and lived there until moving to Kenya. While my professional training is in education, I’m excited to use many of the same skills it takes to run a successful classroom--such as idea development, organization, and communication--in my role at BlueSky, helping to further the mission and ministry that have already been established. I love traveling, and living internationally has given me so many opportunities to explore our incredible world! I also love music, camping, campfires and fire pits, stars, friends, trivia games, and any event that can combine any or all of those things! I will officially be joining the BlueSky team in late July 2016 as Operations Director, helping to give leadership to some systems that are already in place and working to design and implement some new policies and procedures. Much of my initial focus will be in the areas of human resources, customer service, and event planning. My hope and prayer is that God will enable me to use the gifts He’s given me to serve not only the students and clients with whom we work, but the current and future BlueSky staff as well, releasing them from some of the responsibilities they’ve had to pick up and freeing them to spend more time in the relational ministry to which they’ve been called. ” Jen’s greatest support need is to build her team of monthly supporters. Prayer Requests: Pray that God will continue to use BlueSky to further His kingdom and “engage the nations” in and around Nairobi. Pray that the hearts of students and clients will be open to a loving relationship with Jesus. Pray that I would continue to grow in my relationship with the Lord and fully trust His provision in this time of transition. Pray that God will lead me to my ministry “niche” within the greater context of BlueSky. Pray that once I begin work I will learn the ropes quickly so that I can be as productive and helpful as possible. Pray that I will never be so focused on the tasks to complete that I miss an opportunity to love or serve students, clients, or other staff.
